KESAC is a recogonized landmark in its pursuit of excellence in disability rehabilitation is deeply dedicated to the mission of improving the total quality of life and social adaptability of children with special needs and their families. We were able to make a mark in the field of rehabilitation centres in Southern India in less than 2 years. It took years of hard-work and pain to put up such an organization which is at par to any multi-disciplinary resource centre across the globe.

Our Approach

Though we stress the natural approach of teaching and learning we recognize and respect the fact that children with special needs have different educational and behavioral needs, they require different strategies for learning, they acquire, assimilate and communicate information in different ways and at different rates, and need a range of different teaching approaches and experiences.

Focus of Keasc

Early Intervention Service (Below 4 years): Emphasis on skills like Motor, Language and communication, Cognitive, Social, Self help skills, etc.

Special School (4 + years): Emphasizes on individual curriculum planning and the teacher student ratio is 1:1 to a maximum of 1:4. The focus is on practical learning outcomes and preparing students for in the wider community.

Pre Vocational Centre: Depending upon individual abilities, pre vocational training is given to prepare the child to enter the world of meaningful occupation.

Vocational Training Centre: Training on a particular vocation is provided after the child is ready for skill. K.E. Safiya is the only special school in Kerala to have family based vocational training for the special needs of the child like office management (computers data entry and typing, photocopy, fax, receiving couriers and letters), Home Management (Cooking), Beautician Aid, Teachers Aid, Candle Making, and Card Making.

What is Autism?

Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills. Causes, incidence, and risk factors. Autism is a physical condition linked to abnormal biology and chemistry in the brain. The exact causes of these abnormalities remain unknown, but this is a very active area of research. There are probably a combination of factors that lead to autism. Genetic factors seem to be important. For example, identical twins are much more likely than fraternal twins or siblings to both have autism. Similarly, language abnormalities are more common in relatives of autistic children. Chromosomal abnormalities and other nervous system (neurological) problems are also more common in families with autism.
